‘Stuff the Truck’

This annual Cowichan District Food Drive happens early December in front of the Save-On Foods in Duncan.

Save-on Foods sell five and ten dollar bags of groceries for the event to be distributed among all local area food banks including Chemainus, Duncan, Ladysmith, Lake Cowichan and Mill Bay.

Christmas Food Program

The Society also runs a Christmas Food Program, distributing food vouchers instead of food. The amount given depends on family size and can be claimed at the local 49th Parallel grocery stores.

People register for this program during their regular food bank time and location. Members of the community may donate food in Chemainus at the food bank on Thursday from 10:00 am to noon, or at either the Chemainus or Crofton food banks during regular hours.

The collection deadline varies each year. See local paper for updated information.
